Avaliação do Impacto da Covid-19 Na Saúde Mental da Equipe de Enfermagem: Revisão Integrativa / Assessment of the Impact of Covid-19 on the Mental Health of Nursing Staff: An Integrative Review
Abstract

ABSTRACT
Introduction: COVID-19 was initially identified in December 2019 in China and quickly triggered a global crisis affecting all economic sectors, particularly the health sector, causing high demand and overloading the system. Objective: To evaluate the scientific evidence regarding the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of nursing staff. Methods: This is an integrative review, aiming to survey articles on the repercussions of COVID-19 on the mental health of nurses in the following databases: PubMed, Virtual Health Library (VHL), and the CAPES Periodicals Portal (CAFe), in addition to covering the first 5 years of the pandemic (2020-2025). Results: Quantitative, descriptive, and exploratory studies were found, covering multiple territories and presenting nurses' experiences during the pandemic, as well as addressing how the impact on the mental health of these professionals occurred. Therefore, the most prevalent mental health problems stand out: anxiety, depression, burnout syndrome, and post-traumatic stress disorder, which resulted in significant impairment of both mental and physical health. This physical and emotional strain occurred as a result of long working hours, concern about possible contamination, and family isolation. Conclusion: In light of this, it is evident that the global crisis in the health sector, aggravated by the pandemic, has generated challenges for nursing professionals, compromising their ability to perform their profession in a dignified manner, while negatively affecting their physical and mental health.
